Drive towards Ikalto monastery – the 12th c complex served as the educational and religious center for the region in middle ages, where viniculture was taught among many other desceplines. Up to present the visitors will see the remnants of wine production. Next, visit the studio of qvevri maker. Qvevri is traditional Georgian vessel used for fermantation and storage of the wine. This egg shaped vessel is buried under the ground and keeps the wine in needed temperature. Qvevri up to present is used actively across the country. Meet one of the very few masters who builds qvevri in old style using primitive tools. Guests will have a chance to see the process as well as talk to the craftsmen and learn more about the vessel. Enjoy lunch at the small artisanal vineyard where we will be served delicious homemade food and taste natural wines. In the afternoon return to the hotel and enjoy some rest.
